I received yesterday the following crappy email:

To: Prof. Tziralis Georgios

Subject: NEW JOURNAL

Re: INVITATION FOR CHIEF EDITOR

Dear Professor,

We are launching a new Journal from 2008 in your specialized field of study.

I shall be very grateful to you, if you provide your kind assistance to us for starting a new journal.

Please suggest the name of the journal along with your kind acceptance.

Waiting for your kind reply.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

xxxxx, New Delhi, India

and a link to an ‘International Journal of Pure and Applied Chemistry’

Well, as you may (and they have to) already know, I’m not a professor, actually I haven’t even finished my PhD yet. What’s more, my research and academic interests have absolute zero correlation to anything related to chemistry, both pure and applied.

So, if I answer yes to this ‘director’ of the ‘global publishing company’ that mails out such journal-generator ‘invitations’, will I be able to claim serving as a ‘chief editor’ for a ‘multi-blind peer-reviewed academic journal’ on my ‘specialized field of study’ in my CV? How crappy!

p.s.: I’m emailing him this post, let’s have some fun…
